FEDERATION HISTORY

October 1995

Richard Davidson hosted a meeting of councils and key industry members in Houston. Councils is attendance were Texas, New Jersey, Chicago, Far West and NBS.
 

August 1997

 Six councils attended the 1st National Ski Council Ski  Summit in Steamboat.  Kim Miller – Florida organized the meeting with Steamboat as host resort. Councils in Attendance – Chicago, Flatland, Far West, Florida, NBS, and Texas

At the Steamboat meeting, It was decided to have a 2nd meeting in late August 1998 with Aspen / Snowmass as host resort.
 

August 1998

13 councils meet for the 2nd National Ski Council Summit in Aspen.   Kim Miller – Florida and Anne Myers – Texas organized the meeting. Paul Webber President of Cleveland helped solicit new councils with 9 new councils attending.

4 Councils returned - Chicago, Far West, Florida, and Texas

9 New Councils in Attendance – Bay Area, Blue Ridge, Cleveland, Crescent, Los Angeles, Detroit, Milwaukee, New Jersey, and Ohio Valley. At the end of Aspen meeting it was decided to form the National Ski Council Federation (NSCF) with goals of enabling better communication between Councils (networking), Resorts, and tour operators, and to become a stronger voice within the travel and snow sports industry.
 

August 1999

23 Councils meet for the First NSCF meeting in Park City. With 10 new Councils,  this brought the total to 23. At this meeting we worked on the NSCF bylaws and had our first election.

The 10 New Councils - Arizona, E. Pennsylvania, Flatland, Metro New York, Minnesota, National Brotherhood of Skiers, Northwest, Orange, San Diego, and W. Pennsylvania

 

 

Since then these new councils have joined

2003 Sierra Council
2004 New Mexico Council
2005 Central Ski Council
2006 Connecticut Ski Council
