Social media Etiquette

We have recently developed some guidelines for social media posts and comments for all NSCF social medial sites.  Below and attached are these guidelines.  You may want to share them with your members and clubs.

Social Media Etiquette - NSCF

We’ve seen some posts on other ski-related pages that brought to our attention that it’s time we should send out some “Social Media Etiquette” recommendations.

Do you think about what you post or a comment you add?  Do you consider how others see and interpret your posts and comments?  Can your post be considered offensive to others?  Is it unrelated to the topic or subject of the post?

Ski-related pages and groups are set up for just that – to share ski news, ski resort and ski industry information and we have some guidelines for all of our followers as you add comments to any of our posts:

  1. Keep comments positive.  Negative comments aren’t welcome.  We’re here to share fun.
  2. Be respectful when making comments.
  3. Racial or religious comments and discrimination of any type aren’t permitted.
  4. Check before you tag people in photos.  Let someone tag themselves on a post.
  5. Is your message being posted in the right place?  Keep comments focused on the topic of the post.  Don’t go “outside the box” or “off the trail.”
  6. Check the news and facts to make sure comments are accurate.  If in doubt, don’t post the comment.  Fact check first.
  7. Don’t solicit business on our page  – we promote skiing and snowboarding.  That’s all we want to sell you – our love of the sport and the outdoors..
  8. Skip the selfies.  Group shots and scenery pictures are the best.
  9. Profanity has no place ever on our page.  As your mom or dad would say, “watch your mouth.”
  10. And NEVER post political opinions or comments of any kind.

We love sharing information, pictures, resort news, snow reports, and just everything there is about the mountains, the resorts, the councils, the clubs and the skiers and snowboarders.  Think before you post  a comment!  Thank you.
