Dear Council Members,
Last year at the Annual Meeting in Bend we had some really good interactions with the Industry. We looked at ourselves and tried to determine what we were doing good and what we needed to work on. We also asked the Industry to make the same lists. After comparing we came up with several areas that we could work on to make a difference. The Marketing Committee came out of this brainstorming, and we were charged to try to better compile a showing of what we, as the NSCF are putting financially into the industry. It's easy to say, we have 29 Councils and 6000 members that financially impact ski areas, but can we prove it?
This is your opportunity to help us prove we are what we say we are. The committee was made up of both council and industry representatives, and we have been working all year to streamline what information we feel is important and how to collect it. We also decided that we don't want to ask for too much at first and get nothing. So, we have decided to collect the data in phases. Phase I we are only asking for Council Trips, to see how much the councils are generating from their Ski Weeks. Phase II we will branch out and ask you to have your clubs fill in so that we can go down to the club level. Finally Phase III would be to have the club members fill in any trips they do on their own. As you can see, this is a big endeavor, so this year we are only at Phase I and want the information from those trips you consider Council Trips.
The attached Excel spreadsheet is what we would like you to fill out. As most of you are the Council President or NSCF delegate/representative, please get this to your Council Trip Chair or appropriate council leader that would have this information. We also realize that some of these numbers your Council may have to get with the Tour Operator that ran the trip to help get the specific numbers. If your Council does not run a council trip, please fill in the top section and under the first column put "no council trips" and return.
As mentioned above, the goal is to compile this information to present at this year's annual meeting in Taos. Please submit back to me by June 30, 2024.
