(Vancouver, WA - Feb. 18, 2025) – The Far West Ski Association (FWSA) is launching a virtual discussion series focused on climate change and its impact on snowsports. The first session will be presented Monday, February 24, and feature Courtney LaBrie, Director of Sustainability for the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), and Nate Collins, Sustainability & Stewardship Coordinator for Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area. First Session: Monday, February 24, 2025 Time: 6:30 - 7:30 PM Pacific Time Location: Virtual Event (Registration Required) As global warming increasingly disrupts weather patterns and reduces seasonal snowfall, ski areas and the industry as a whole are taking steps to adapt and mitigate environmental impact. This session will provide insights into what ski areas are doing to address the challenges ahead, highlighting sustainability initiatives, operational adaptations, and industry-wide efforts to respond to climate change. A Resource for the Ski IndustryThis event is part of an ongoing effort by the FWSA Environment Committee to provide education, advocacy, and engagement opportunities for ski industry professionals and snowsports enthusiasts. With more than 50,000 members across nine councils and over 150 ski clubs, FWSA represents a passionate community that values both outdoor recreation and environmental responsibility. Session Topics:How climate change is affecting ski areas and the broader snowsports industry. NSAA’s sustainability initiatives, including Sustainable Slopes and the NSAA Climate Challenge.
