Many of you know or have met Peter over the years either from Pentagon Ski Club, Blue Ridge Ski Council, or the NSCF.  Peter suffered a serious heart attack last Sunday, August 2^nd.  He was taken to Medstar Washington Hospital Center where he underwent quadruple bypass surgery.  

As of Tuesday, August 4, Peter was in stable condition, on a ventilator, recovering from the surgery.  As he remains unconscious, we will wait to hear from his family regarding visitors.  Peter’s sister Mariette Francis will be travelling to DC from her home in Tucson, Arizona.

As of Sunday, August 9th, here is what we know about Peter's status:

Peter is basically stable but still being vented and sedated. He is being treated for a yeast infection in his lungs.  His blood samples show no infection so he has been taken off several antibiotics. While he is still on  meds to control his blood pressure they have been able to reduce them as he is making some progress.  He is able to understand and respond to questions posed by the hospital staff.

Peter's sister Mariette asked that we wait to visit as he is still sedated, and to decrease the chances of further infection.

Mariette will be staying at Peter's to get things ready for when he returns home.  She and Peter's other sister, Ingrid, will be keeping us posted on his condition and we will pass that along as we receive any major updates.
