I agree that we do need to reply.

I would reply with something like we appreciate him reaching out to us.  However, we recommend he contact the Florida Ski Council or if he booked his trip through one of the Clubs in Florida, he should work with the Council or his club to hopefully help him resolve this.  Although we wish there were something we could due to assist, we aren’t in a position to assist other than recommendations.  I’d tell him we are aware there are a lot of others who have run into the same issues.

I’m not sure who’s current President of FSC - Linda would know.  Try to direct him to an appropriate person in the Florida Council.

Cheryl, any other thoughts or suggestions?

Agree will all comments, however we still need to send a reply.  What would be appropriate but noncommittal or non judgmental.  Something that would be polite and politically correct.

I don’t think Vail Resorts even has a group or council/club person anymore that anyone can contact.  I think Andrew’s position any more.

The Federation wasn’t part of the purchase of this individual’s EPIC part purchase and unfortunately for him, it wouldn’t be appropriate for us to send anything to VR and certainly not try to pursue it through any type legal method.  If he bought the pass as an individual, he’s pretty much at the mercy of whether Vail wants to refund anything or not.  I know Cheryl will agree with that.  If he wants to take any legal action against VR, that’s up to him and at his expense.

I would first tell him to try through his club in Florida or the FSC.  If not, he needs to process his claim individually.  My recommendation is other than give a recommendation, we stay out of it.

I think that the Florida council president should be contacted first to see what insights she might have on this person and what the council may have done regarding the issue. IMHO there's no recourse other than through the courts and we don't have the resources to do that plus Vail has deep pockets to fight it. From a PR perspective it's not a good look for NSCF. We could address a letter of displeasure to Vail if we have enough information, but as Mike said, they have little interest in what we think.

Whoever at Vail said trip insurance would cover the loss apparently doesn't know much about trip insurance. It's a pass, not a trip.

I would think that he should have either his ski club or the Florida Council should take this up before we get involved.

Plus remember what Andrew told us, Vail does not care about clubs or Councils.

I do not see their attitude changing.

I'd defer to Cheryl from a legal perspective. Unless one of us has and knows how to handle this, we shouldn't be giving any legal advise. Or know who we can direct them to.

I'm assuming he is a member of a Florida club? Is the club not trying to resolve?

I personally have only heard of these issues through our call in June and what I've seen posted on Facebook.

Sorry, know I'm no help.

I can’t get epic pass (vail resorts) to honor their refund policy due to COVID 19, as they said we had “trip insurance” coverage for such issues. They won’t even give us a credit for this year. Many other people in same situation. Any comment or suggestions?
Thanks
Pete
