Steamboat Resort, CO, Expansion Gets Go Ahead From Forest Service to Make it Colorado’s 2nd Largest Resort. Steamboat Resort, CO announced yesterday that its $135-million master plan to make the resort the second largest in Colorado has received approval from the US Forest Service. Squaw Valley Ditches its Name Saying it’s Racist and Sexist. The famed Squaw Valley ski resort near Lake Tahoe is changing its name, after a long debate and input from Native American tribes. Vail Resorts Nixes Reservation System This Year, But Vaccine Proof Will Be Required for Some Dining. Vail Resorts will require proof of vaccination for guests to dine at indoor on-mountain, cafeteria-style restaurants this winter and vaccinations will be required for all employees. More. Ikon Pass Holders Will Be Required to Make Reservations at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, WY, Next Season. Seven ski days at Jackson Hole are included on the Ikon Pass and are a $150 add-on to the Ikon Base Pass. The resort aims to operate all lifts at full loading capacity, including the Aerial Tram, and Jackson Hole pass holders will not be required to make reservations. More. SnowBrains
Ikon Adds Dolomiti Superski and Kitzbühel. Ikon Pass has expanded its European connections to include Dolomiti Superski in Italy and Kitzbühel, Austria, which join Zermatt, Switzerland, on the Ikon Pass. More. SAM

Dodge Ridge (CA) Sold to Mountain High Owners. California’s Dodge Ridge Ski Resort is being acquired by Mountain High Resort, Calif., owners Invision Capital and Karl Kapuscinski, Mountain High president, and CEO. Longtime Dodge Ridge owners Frank and Sally Helm are retiring. The Helm family has owned and operated the ski area since 1976. More. SAM
Injury Insurance Added to Ski Passes Could Take Financial Pressure Off Skiers, Boarders. A new kind of injury insurance is taking a little financial pressure off athletes of all levels and attracting ski resorts looking to add extra perks to their passes. Indy Pass Adds Manning Park, Sovereign Lake Nordic, Seven Oaks, The Rock Snowpark. The new resorts include Seven Oaks, Iowa, and The Rock Snowpark, Wisconsin, adding to Indy’s considerable Midwestern strength and density. The other two additions, both in British Columbia, are Manning Park and, in a first for Indy, Sovereign Lake Nordic Club, a massive cross-country facility that offers no downhill terrain. More.
