Sugarloaf has just announced that they will be operating Maine’s first and only cat-skiing operation on neighboring Burnt Mountain this coming season.

Since 2010, the folks at Sugarloaf have been dedicated to developing their awesome and unique ‘sidecountry’… particularly on Burnt Mountain and the Androscoggin Glade. Previously only accessible by hiking or skinning, the newly acquired 12 passenger snow cat is about to make it much easier.

“Since its opening, our sidecountry terrain has become a fan favorite among Sugarloafers,” said Crusher Wilkinson, Sugarloaf VP of Mountain Operations. “The new Burnt Mountain Cat Skiing will not only enhance the skiing and riding experience, but also make the terrain more accessible to our guests.”

You will now be able to hit terrain like this with little-to-no effort!

This is just the most recent addition to a long list of improvements that the resort has been making.

Most Recent Additions To Sugarloaf:

  • 600 acres of new terrain
  • A new quad chairlift
  • Huge upgrades to snowmaking and resort amenities

They’re also in the process of cutting a brand new glade on Burnt Mountain, increasing the current cat accessible terrain by 100 acres.

Offered on weekends and holiday weeks for the inaugural season, this program is recommended for expert skiers and riders only. A Ski Patrol station at the top of Androscoggin glade will be available to provide guests with information about the terrain.
