n a press release sent out today, representatives of Ikon Pass announced that the multi-resort season pass offering will be partnering with one of Australia’s premier ski destinations, Thredbo, for the 2018 season. Prior to today’s announcement, Ikon Pass provided to access to 26 resorts strictly across North America; the season pass program now includes seven-day access to its first resort in the Southern Hemisphere.

“As we continue to curate partners for the Ikon Pass, we look for destinations that share our passion for the mountains and are dedicated to creating enduring memories for their guests. Thredbo fits right in and we are thrilled to welcome the leading destination in the Southern Hemisphere to the Ikon Pass community,” said Erik Forsell, Chief Marketing Officer of Alterra Mountain Company.

Thredbo has the most vert in Australia (2,204 feet) and the highest lifted point of all the resorts (6,683 feet), which makes for a true high-alpine experience. It’s also a great backcountry access point, while on-piste terrain is littered with giant boulders that make for a veritable mini-golf course of hits, jibs and drops.

As Vail Resorts has its own property in Australia, namely, Perisher, it comes as no surprise that Alterra Mountain Company—the joint-venture of KSL Capital Partners and Henry Crown and Company—now offers Ikon Pass holders access to the Southern Hemisphere. Now, for $999, Ikon Pass delivers unlimited access to 12 destinations plus seven-days and seven-days combined at 14 destinations, with no black-out dates.
