It looks like winter has finally arrived in South America, as the storm currently pounding the Andes has already dumped feet of fresh snow on ski resorts, with way more in the short-term forecast.

Having postponed opening days due to lack of snow, it looks like the majority of resorts will be opening this weekend with exceptional conditions.

Corralco, Chile received over 40″ and will be opening this weekend. The forecast is calling for another 5-FEET over the next 72-hours.

Valle Nevado, Chile has been buried under 14″ of fresh snow. Also opening this weekend, and with another 2-feet in the forecast, opening weekend conditions should be prime.

Las Leñas, Argentina just announced they will be opening this weekend, and with up to 3-feet in the forecast, it should be a powdery opening day to remember.

Cerro Catedral, Argentina, our summer home, just received over a foot, with even more in the forecast. We can’t wait to get there now!
